Volunteer and Events Manager
Full-Time | In-Office (Norfolk County)
Salary Range: $50,960 – $58,240 per year
Haldimand-Norfolk Community Senior Support Services (H-NCSSS) is a not-for-profit organization
supporting seniors and adults with disabilities to live safely and independently in their homes and
communities across Haldimand and Norfolk counties.
H-NCSSS is seeking a Volunteer and Events Manager to lead volunteer engagement, community
events, and fundraising initiatives that support our programs and services. The role contributes to
organizational planning and leadership discussions related to volunteer capacity, community
engagement, and fundraising initiatives
Position Overview
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer and Events Manager leads volunteer recruitment,
onboarding, and engagement across H-NCSSS programs and services while participating as part of
the organization’s leadership team in discussions related to volunteer capacity, community
engagement, fundraising initiatives, and organizational planning. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement volunteer engagement strategies to support programs and services
- Recruit, screen, onboard, and support volunteers including references and criminal record checks
- Deliver volunteer orientation, training, placement, and scheduling
- Organize volunteer appreciation and recognition activities
- Plan and coordinate community events and fundraising activities
- Collaborate with staff and community partners to strengthen volunteer participation
- Maintain confidential volunteer files in accordance with standards and legislation
- Track volunteer participation, prepare reports, and develop communications content
- Participate as part of the leadership team in discussions related to volunteer capacity, community engagement, fundraising initiatives, and organizational planning
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in event management, marketing, communications, volunteer coordination, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Certification in Volunteer Administration is an asset
- Experience in volunteer management, community engagement, or event coordination
- Strong communication, relationship building, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, and digital communication platforms
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage multiple priorities
Working Conditions
- In-office position within Norfolk County
- Access to a vehicle and valid Ontario driver’s license required
- Flexibility to attend community events and meetings outside regular hours
- Occasional travel throughout Haldimand and Norfolk regions
- Criminal Record Check required

ADULT DAY PROGRAM FACILITATOR ON-CALL / CASUAL POSITIONS
Haldimand & Norfolk Locations
Program operates Monday-Friday 8:30am-3:30pm
Starting Wage $18.38 (PLUS PSW Wage Enhancement)
Responsibilities: To assist with the implementation of clinical / therapeutic Adult Day Programs, which actively support adults living with Dementia’s, frail elderly and adults living with disabilities. Related experience in; case management / program planning, facilitating senior’s therapeutic recreation / exercise programs, providing caregiver support and assisting with ADL’s.
Qualifications: College diploma / certificate in Personal Support Worker or Developmental Services Worker, First Aid/CPR and – 1-2 years related experience. Practical related work experience with Dementia’s and / or cognitively impaired individuals in a client centered therapeutic, social & recreational environment. Certificate in; GPA, Dementia Studies, STEPS Exercise Program would be an asset.
Essential Skills: Proven related skills in planning and implementing therapeutic recreation-based programming, excellent interpersonal communication skills, competent user of Microsoft Office & internet, capacity to work independently within a multidisciplinary team.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VAN DRIVER ON-CALL / CASUAL POSITION
Job Responsibilities:
- Drive agency van to transport clients as directed
- Provide assistance to clients with limited mobility
- Ensure the use and maintenance of all van safety precautions including Q strains, seatbelts, automatic lift and the functionality of fire extinguisher and first aid kit
- Review and maintain current van schedule ensuring adherence to the policies of H-NCSSS transportation service
- Operate the van in compliance with the Ontario Traffic Safety Act
- Perform standard daily vehicle checks with regular maintenance and safety inspections
- Completion of administrative reports as required.
Qualifications:
- Current driver’s license & a clear Driver’s Abstract ol Personal Driver’s Insurance
- Current First Aid certificate (CPR Certificate an asset)
- Current Police Check and a minimum of three professional references
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the job which could include assisting and lifting clients and the ability to operate the lift manually in the event of electrical failure
- Previous related experience is an asset
- Good organizational, time management skills, reliable and available to work flexible hours
- Excellent communication & interpersonal skills with Seniors and Disabled Adults
- Familiar with the specialized needs of Seniors and Disabled Adults
- Flexibility to adapt to a changing environment and challenges
- Ability to work independently while being part of a larger team
