Dunnville ADP
We celebrated New Year’s with Ted Bertin an excellent local entertainer, clients enjoyed dancing and singing along. We enjoyed playing hockey with The Dunnville Christian school, who join us for a intergenerational program once month.  We said goodbye to our high school co-op student and welcomed co-op student from Niagara College in her second year of recreation.  She is with us until April when she graduates.  Elvis was in the building in February for a Valentine celebration, excellent show the clients loved the show.  The group celebrated The Chinese New Year, with a lunch, as well as pancakes and sausage on Pancake Tuesday with a lovely breakfast.  We enjoyed our own Winter Olympics with bobsled races, biathlon (with nerf guns and targets) there are some real sharp shooters in this group.  We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with Donall Sweeny on keyboard and Cyndi on the fiddle.  Christine’s Irish soda bread and homemade shepherds pie.  Our student helped us set up small plants of herbs for our garden this summer.
We enjoyed a busy winter but are looking so forward to the Spring!

Hagersville ADP
These are positive and productive times for the Hagersville Adult Day Program.  We enjoyed celebrating Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter, and are now looking forward to warm weather and getting outside to enjoy it!

It has been a busy but fun past few months.  We had our first show by the ‘Old Barn Doors’ who played us some songs from the album they are working on.  They are a country-bluegrass band and were well received by everybody involved.  For St. Patrick’s Day we had our Irish music duo of Donall and Cindy entertain the group with Irish folk classics on the violin and keyboard.  They are very entertaining, and the songs were recognized and appreciated by all.
We continue to participate in our monthly sing-song with volunteers Art and Coby leading us in some sing-along classics.  We also have the Therapeutic Paws Pet Therapy program visiting us once a month, which is warmly received by all.  We were excited to have our first Early Years visit in February, and are hoping for lots more, as the clients really enjoyed seeing the toddlers.

Looking ahead, in May we are going bowling at Whitehorse Bowling Alley in Simcoe, and welcoming back Gary and Jane to entertain the group with some of their country hits.  We will also celebrate Cinco de Mayo and May Day.  And, in July, we’ll have our annual Canada Day bash, welcoming our friends from Dunnville to join us in commemorating Canada’s 151st birthday!
