The HNCSSS Adult Day Program (ADP) is a Therapeutic Recreation Program that offers a range of activities for the frail elderly and adult individuals affected by physical disabilities, aphasia, Parkinson's, MS, Alzheimer's and related dementias.
ADP offers a customized range of cognitive, recreational and social activities that fosters independence, mental acuity, physical/manual dexterity and psycho~social needs of clients while striving to maintain dignity and respect in a manner that recognizes their uniqueness and individuality.
Benefits of ADP:
- Increases confidence & competency - decreases social isolation and helplessness
- Maintains independence for longer, and support clients to remain at home as long as possible
- Promotes mental acuity and social connectedness
- Increase or maintain psychomotor skills and physical dexterity
- Provides relief, respite and on-going support for family & caregivers alike
- Available to 80 clients at any given time (max of 12 clients, per program, per day)
Recreation's purpose is not to kill time, but to make time live, not to keep a person occupied, but to keep them refreshed, not to escape from life, but to provide a discovery of life. The Adult Day Program has a fundamental belief that all individuals regardless of their abilities or situation have the right to live a useful and active life.
